I answered the call.
“Hello, I have got a West Highland terrier. He goes for dogs, doesn’t stop barking, jumps all over the furniture and guests”
After a full consultation it was clear that the confidence Bob had was a bluff when it came to going for dogs, and him growling and trying to bite were a mixture of fear through lack of experience socializing with other dogs and also frustration through wanting to play. His behaviour was different away from his best friend. The older dog in the house Bert (also a westie)
After a few one to one sessions teaching Bob recall we were able to let Bob off the lead. (Something that he had never experienced in his life!). I used stooge dogs with reliable temperaments to show him that not all dogs were out to get him (and to show Eileen) He now loves to play with them and has a great time.
“Damian helped me with my confidence more than anything and also the differences in my dogs and how their minds work. I was terrified of Bob running off or attacking other dogs. It was wonderful to see him off lead playing with other dogs. He is much better now when we are out on the lead, and we let him off on the beach near our caravan and he loves it” (Eileen Baker.
